On 14.12.2020 during our classroom lesson in VII-5 grade, we learnt about Copyrights through the workshop which is part of our Erasmus+ KA229 project “Young journalists today – responsible digital citizens tomorrow”. The workshop was held online by our home classroom teacher, Zhaklina Kolevska.

The copyrights exist to protect all creations as well as the rights of the authors who created them. Unfortunately, some people don’t want to bother to respect these copyrights and “steal” the creations of these authors, or in other words use them without the permission of the author and with that commit piracy and plagiarism. When this happens, the author is not compensated for his creation and his work is devaluated. This is why there are many sites that protect author’s copyrights from where certain audio files, books, films etc. can be legally downloaded and with this, the copyrights can be protected.
During the workshop, we discussed about how authors are deprived from their copyrights, but also we discussed about the way we can respect these copyrights. We talked about the different sites that can be used to download files for free without committing piracy and through the tasks we did during the workshops we learnt how to correctly city the literature we use and the way to download music for free from the website Freeplaymusic.com. After this workshop, I believe that all students from our class will download files for free in a legal way and they would respect the author’s copyrights when using literature or download music.
